    Description

The CooCoo Nut Grove Ned Sparks Color Model Drawing (Warner Brothers, 1936). "I go everywhere, I do everything. But I never have any fun." This is the line Ned Sparks speaks at the Coconut Grove at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles in this early Friz Freleng directed short. You can see him utter these words at the 1:49 mark into the short. The dour and deadpan Ned Sparks was a hit character-actor in the 1930-40s. This hand-drawn color model drawing is produced in graphite with red and green pencil on animation paper. There are many color notations written on this page, and indications that it was for Scene 5. Robert McKimson was one of the animators on this short, before he moved into the Director ranks. The celebrity-stuffed short was full of Golden Age of Hollywood star caricatures. Nice detailed image of 3.5". There is a light stain on left side of paper across to the right, and minor handling. Framed with a mat opening of 11.5" x 8.5". In Very Good condition.
