The Butcher of Seville Production Background Art Group of 2 (Terrytoons, 1944). The World War II meat shortage was played for laughs in the opera-themed short, directed by Eddie Donnelly and released on 1/7/44. Here are two original hand-painted 12 field backgrounds from this cartoon, both showing scenes from the orchestra pit. The first is noted as 42, and shows a large kettle drum; see this at the 5:23 mark on YouTube. The second is noted as 46, and occurs at the 5:42 mark, as the band frantically plays the climax of the show. Both are painted with gouache and watercolor with airbrushed highlights on skimmed boards. Condition is Very Good with minor handling and edge wear.
