    Description

The Bugs Bunny Show "The Honeymousers" Production Cel With Key Master Production Background (Warner Brothers, 1960/56). In this episode of The Bugs Bunny Show, Bugs invites the audience to join him in his dressing room to watch his favorite "adult, family situation cartoon show for kids if you know what I mean." Here is an original Key Master setup of the TV in Bugs Bunny's dressing room with the title card of the show he's about to watch. The Bugs Bunny Show featured new animation created by the original directors to introduce their classic cartoons and this Key Master setup was used to introduce the 1956 Robert McKimson-directed short, The Honeymousers. The 12 field setup includes a hand-painted gouache background, a hand-lettered production cel bearing the title and another gouache overlay background of the TV set. The overlay appeared twice in this episode, serving a second time as the bumper for coming attractions. This is truly a one-of-a-kind piece that bridges early Warner Brothers TV with one of their classic theatrical shorts. The setup shows handling and minor water damage. Condition is Good.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
