The Black Cauldron Master Storyboard Bound File Copy Book (Walt Disney, 1985). Work on The Black Cauldron began in 1973, under the direction of John Musker. The project changed hands several times before layout artist Joe Hale was chosen as Producer. The film underwent a lot of editing when it was deemed to violent and disturbing, and about 12 minutes were eventually cut. That's what makes this storyboard "bible" so interesting! This is Joe Hale's personal copy, a set of 46 sheets of photo print paper measuring 20" x 12". Each sheet is a photograph of a story wall, with multiple storyboard drawings tacked on. With so many management changes made in mid-film and edits of the original plan, these storyboard prints showcase the many story changes and brilliant artwork. Amazing insight into the making of this film! The book is bound with green paper covers that have the handwritten notation "The Black Cauldron Prod. No. 0128." The green paper has become discolored in places with handling and edge wear, but the inside prints are in Very Good condition with minor handling.
