    Description

The Black Cauldron Gurgi Concept Art by Tim Burton (Walt Disney, 1985). The Black Cauldron marked the beginning of a new era for Walt Disney Studios animation. Many new artists were coming aboard as legends began to retire. Among the fresh talent was a just-out-of Cal Arts student, Tim Burton. His first uncredited job at the studio was an assignment for character development for this film. Here is a stunning display of his work, a concept piece for the character Gurgi created in gouache and graphite on 13" x 10" paper. It's one of the largest studio drawings we have seen from his hand, with an image size of 11" x 5". Minor handling wear with pinholes in corners. Very Good condition. From the Joe Hale Archives.
