The Black Cauldron Concept Art by Andres Deja (Walt Disney, 1985). Andres Deja was inducted as A Disney Legend in 2015, after his staggering array of work on so many Disney animated films. His very first assignment for Disney was doing character visual development for The Black Cauldron. His work on this was so good, he was moved in animation on this film. This lot is some of the first work ever done by Mr. Deja at the Walt Disney Studios. This is a series of three character development/concept pieces of "The Horned King". Graphite, pen and ink, and artist markers on 16 field 3-peghole animation paper and trimmed paper of 14" x 11". Horned King is 12", while Horned King on his horse with sword is 13". The third piece is a study of five facial poses, 4"-5". Considering this man's career, this is a very important lot. In Very Good condition with minor handling, edge wear and pinholes in corners. From the Joe Hale Archives.
