The Black Cauldron Character Development Art by Mike Ploog Group of 3 (Walt Disney, 1985). The Horned King is considered one of Disney Studios' most evil villains of all time. Joe Hale, the producer of this film, is quoted as saying "We thought he would make a good animation character mainly because he had horns sticking out of his head!" The Horned King wants to rule the world and stamp out all of humanity in his attempt to persecute the entire planet. He would be voiced by the actor John Hurt. This is a series of three character development drawings by Mike Ploog. His Marvel Comics influence is seen on all three. One is a full-figure frontal study in graphite and charcoal, with a great image size of 12". A side profile is done the same way, with a size of 10". The study is signed Ploog in the bottom border. The third piece is a detailed graphite drawing on tan paper, done in marker with graphite. This one has a huge image of 14", and also is signed Ploog on the bottom border. Three Mike Ploog originals in this lot, each one more terrifying than the last! Minor handling and edge wear. In Very Good condition.
