The Birthday Party Mickey Mouse Animation Layout Drawing (Walt Disney, 1931). "SURPRISE!" yells Minnie Mouse, Horace Horsecollar, Clarabelle Cow and others when Mickey walks in to Minnie's house for a surprise birthday party. This Burt Gillett-directed short was released on 1/7/31. After a dueling piano recital with Mickey and Minnie, then a dance with Clarabelle and Horace, Mickey does a solo on the xylophone to "There's No Place Like Home." He plays it with SIX mallets at once! This is a very rare layout drawing of Mickey Mouse with his mallets in hand. Great large image of 5". Someone has used a razor and trimmed the matching layout of the xylophone and professionally placed it over Mickey as he plays. The xylophone is 8" x 4". The matched layout is on 12 field, 2-peghole animation paper. This rare drawing is done in graphite with red and blue pencil highlights. Very little artwork has been seen from this short. Extra pegholes have been punched to fit in a binder. Minor handling and edge wear, overall Very Good condition.
