Description
The Aristocats Edited Scene Production Background by Al Dempster (Walt Disney, 1970). By the hand of Disney Legend Inductee Al Dempster (1911 - 2001), we have in this lot a wonderful hand-painted production background created for an edited scene of Disney's 1970 animated film The Aristocats. Credited in this film as a color stylist, Dempster's remarkable skills in creating backgrounds had him contributing to Disney classics like Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty, and The Jungle Book. Done in gouache on 16-field background board and featuring the distinctive overlay with the xeroxed linework, this background shows the base of a haystack in the field where Edgar finds Napoleon and Lafayette asleep. Al Dempster notes "Out of Picture" and signed the background on the bottom left corner. The overlay is taped to the background with archival artist tape. In Very Good condition with overall minor handling and edge wear from production.Auction Info
