DescriptionSuperman Mad Scientist Layout Drawing (Max Fleischer, 1941). The first of nine Superman cartoon shorts produced by the Fleischer Studios is sometimes known as "The Mad Scientist." From that celebrated short comes this rare original layout drawing of that mad scientist, and here he is, pushing levers on a large control panel. Wow! The difficulty of finding original production art from any of the Fleischer (or later Famous Studios) Superman cartoons is well-known among seasoned animation art collectors, making this a very special piece. The art is in graphite with faint brown pencil on paper; the image size is 10" x 7.25". A paper overlay with cut-out space for the image has been glued over the drawing. It's matted with an opening of 15.5" x 12", and framed using Plexiglas; overall frame size is 24" x 23.5" x 1.25". The frame is sold as-is. Art condition is Good with handling wear and faint rubber cement stains on the border overlay.
