Superman Lois Lane, Clark Kent, and Perry White Layout Drawing (Max Fleischer, 1941). From the very first Superman cartoon short produced by the Fleischer Studios comes this detailed layout drawing of Perry White's Daily Planet office. Listening intently to editor White are reporters Lois Lane and Clark Kent (the mild-mannered reporter who is actually Superman). This cartoon, sometimes referred to as "The Mad Scientist," took almost six months to produce. It was finally released to theaters on 9/26/1941. Finding any production artwork from the Superman cartoons (let alone the first one) is difficult, to say the least. The drawing features an outline around Perry White – this is how the scene opens, expanding to show Lois and Clark. You can find the short online; the scene begins at the 1:40 mark. The drawing has an image area of 12" x 9.5", with "Rendering Guide" written above the image. The art is matted with an opening of 15.5" x 12.5", and is framed with Plexiglas for an overall size of 24" x 23.5". Frame is sold as-is. Art condition is Good with a vertical fold crease and handling wear.
