DescriptionSport Goofy and Goof Troop Animation Drawings Group of 3 (Walt Disney, 1987/1991). "Though he seems intoxicated, he's just highly animated!" says Max when speaking about his dad. Originally dubbed Dippy Dawg, Goofy was conceived as a one-shot gag. Goofy would host a series of shorts, specials, educational films, and his own television show, Goof Troop. Goof Troop bears similarity to several early-1950s Goofy cartoon shorts which depicted Goofy as a father to a mischievous red-haired son. From Goof Troop we have two wonderful cleanup drawings of Goofy's neighbor, Pete. Though he typically plays the archetypical villain, Pete has appeared in a more favorable light throughout his career. He was normally characterized as a cigar-smoking thug with a ruthless and tyrannical personality. Goof Troop redefined Pete as a suburban husband and father, with a personality that was less villainous and more mischievous. This iteration of Pete proved popular, and has reappeared again in feature films. Pete is rendered in graphite on 12 field animation paper, noted as P61 and P51 in the lower right of each. The third piece is a superb production drawing of Goofy and a leopard from 1987s An All New Adventure of Disney's Sport Goofy. It originally aired on NBC on 5/27/87 and later rebroadcasted as an episode of The Magical World of Disney on 1/1/89. This illustration was rendered in color pencil on 12 field animation paper. Classic Goofy! Condition is Very Good.
