SpongeBob SquarePants "Texas" Krusty Krab Master Background with Bubbles Overlay Production Cel (Nickelodeon, 2000). You can almost hear the bubbles rippling through this outstanding original Master background with overlay cel featuring the Krusty Krab from the Episode 18 segment "Texas" of the fan-favorite Nicktoon SpongeBob SquarePants. Created by marine science teacher Stephen Hillenburg, this mega-popular Nickelodeon animated series ranks fourth in the list of longest running American animated series. It currently has over 300 episodes across 15 seasons with only the first produced using traditional cel animation. "Texas" debuted March 22, 2000, and gave some backstory to Sandy's character revealing her to be a Bikini Bottom transplant from none other than the great state of Texas. This incredible background can be spotted near the 4:31 timestamp of the segment when viewed online as homesick Sandy's sorrowful lament reaches the ears of Krusty Krab patrons. It has been masterfully hand-painted in gouache to an image area of 12.75" x 9.5" leaving only a small border on the 13.75" x 10.5" background board. The background is paired with a hand-inked bubble overlay cel from the scene with both background and cel bearing production codes along their lower edges. This Krusty Krab background is somewhat atypical as the building is shown facing to the right, contrasting the vast majority of its scenes which feature the building and sign oriented to the left. Background artists for this episode include Peter Bennett, Michael Chen, Andy 'Spike' Clark, and Calvin G. Liang. With typical handling and edge wear including faint surface scuffing, overall this iconic undersea burger house is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
