Description
SpongeBob SquarePants "Opposite Day" Squidward and SpongeBob Houses Preliminary Background (Nickelodeon, 1999). Squidward, fed up with living next door to SpongeBob, decides to move, but he knows that selling his house will be difficult with such an annoying neighbor. He devises a plan to convince SpongeBob that it is Opposite Day so that the porous little guy will be on his best behavior. Presented here is an original hand-painted preliminary background from the 2:45 mark in this, the ninth episode of Season 1. It is beautifully rendered in gouache on 12 field background board and only slightly different than what appears on screen. What SpongeBob collection would be complete without an original painting of the title character's pineapple home under the sea? Original backgrounds from this series have become highly sought-after since the untimely passing of background artist and art director Peter Bennett (1967 - 2024).
