    Description

Society Dog Show Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1939). This knockout short feature one of the most thrilling climactic scenes up to that point in cartoon history. A (formerly-scorned) Pluto must save his future girlfriend, Fifi "the Peke", from a burning building and ends up doing high-wire acrobatics - on roller skates, no less - before all is said and done. It was also the last appearance of the classic "pie-eyed" Mickey. Released to theaters on 2/3/39, this short was directed by Bill Roberts, and featured the work of animators Norm Ferguson, Shamus Culhane, and John Lounsbery. Charming drawing depicts Mickey, ever the optimist, striding jauntily into the grand hotel where the show will be held, and can be seen around the 01:00 mark into the film. Rendered in graphite and colored pencil on 12 field, 5-peghole paper, the image area measures 4" x 4". Slight age-related toning of paper. Very Good condition.
