Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Production Cel Setup with Master Production Background and Book (Walt Disney, 1937). Six of the dwarfs gather innocently around Grumpy so as not to let on that he is in for a good and thorough scrubbing in this magnificent production cel setup from Disney's first animated feature film. Incredibly, all seven dwarfs in full-figure are represented in this Key Scene and together measure approximately 7" x 10". The top cel is numbered 134-E and the setup of untrimmed nitrate cels is presented over an original hand-painted trimmed pan production background on backing. It is marked "4D, Scene 11, Out of Picture" along the bottom border indicating that it was not filmed. This seven character image is so rare and impressive that it's featured on page 27 of Leonard Maltin's book The Disney Films, a first edition copy of which is included in the lot. This is truly a museum quality example of animation art from the world's first full-length animated film and the holy grail for any Snow White collector. The setup is in its original mat that bears a handwritten dedication "To Joan Birdwell, Sincerely Walt Disney." The Disney signature is not Walt's and is attributed to Hank Porter. This was a very high-end gift from the studio and not a Courvoisier setup. The cels show very light handling and age with a couple of very minor cracks in Doc's face. There is tape residue along the side edges. The piece is matted with an opening of 9" x 11" with an overall measurement of 19" x 22". Condition is Fine.
