Description

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Layout Drawing (Walt Disney, 1937). "Lips red as the rose. Hair black as ebony. Skin white as snow." Says the Magic Mirror as he gives up Snow White to the Evil Queen. Here is a very rare item indeed. This is an original layout drawing of the scene when we first see Snow White cleaning the steps of the castle. In animation, the layout artist creates fully-rendered black and white versions of the final backgrounds taken from storyboards for each shot. After the art director critiques, the layout comps, if everything looks good the layouts go on to be painted and fully rendered. You can see this layout to the final version seen around the 3:32 time mark near the beginning of the film. This piece was beautifully detailed in graphite on 16 field animation paper. A drawing of Snow White is trimmed to image and applied to the drawing. The piece is enclosed in a glass-fronted frame of 23.75" x 18.75" with an aperture of 15.5" x 10.75". Frame sold as-is. One of the most spectacular Snow White layout pieces that we have seen. A rare acquisition opportunity for a one-of-a-kind piece. Production handling and edge wear, fold creases and wrinkling. Condition is Very Good.
