Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs "Happy" Courvoisier Setup (Walt Disney, 1937). Arguably the most important film in animation history, here's a RARE Courvoisier setup featuring Happy from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Production art of Happy is hard to find as he only appeared in a few scenes. Originally conceived as a more comically tragic character, Happy is true to his name. Very bubbly and bright, alongside Dopey, he is the friendliest, and most cheerful of the bunch. His gleeful attitude prompts him to giggle quite often, and the peppy dwarf is also known to be quite the singer, yodeler, and musician. In the late 1930s, The Walt Disney Studios was riding on a tidal wave of success. Guthrie Courvoisier, President of the highly esteemed Courvoisier Galleries in San Francisco, was aware of Disney's escalating reputation, and saw vast opportunity in it. Guthrie believed that the Disney paintings on celluloid that were used to create Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs could be sold as valuable art pieces to the public through art galleries and museums all over the world. This is one of the original Courvoisier setups with a hand-inked and hand-painted cel on a wood veneer background. The artwork measures 6" x 6.5" housed in a matboard of 12" x 14". This artwork is over 80 years old! Condition is Very Good.
