Description

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Fred Moore Dwarf Character Development Drawing (Walt Disney, 1937). This is a early character design of a dwarf (before beards were added) by legendary Disney animator Freddie Moore (1911 - 1952). Despite limited formal art training, he rose to prominence at Disney very quickly in the early thirties due to his great natural talent and the tremendous appeal of his drawings, which are still greatly admired by animators and animation fans. He was in charge of animation supervision for the dwarfs and was integral in their development. This masterfully rendered loose character sketch is rendered in graphite and measures 5.5" x 3" on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper. Next to the dwarf is a second sketch of a head with a hat on it and in the lower right corner is written Freddie Moore. Art work from the early development stages of the first feature length animated film by one of Disney's stand-out artists makes this is a true piece of animation history. The paper shows minor handing and has two additional binder holes added to the left side. Condition is Fine.
