Description

Sniffles Studio Publicity Cel (Warner Brothers, c. 1940s). Legendary animator and director Chuck Jones (1912 - 2002) created Sniffles as a potential new star for Looney Toons in 1939. The character was designed by Disney veteran Charlie Thorson, an old hand at designing cute characters for Disney's Silly Symphony shorts. Thorson's design was highly derivative of a character he had designed for Disney in 1936, the country mouse from the Oscar-winning short The Country Cousin. Both the country mouse and Sniffles are, in a word, cute. Offered in this lot is a very cute studio publicity cel of Sniffles. The image measures 4.5" tall, hand-inked, hand-painted on 12 field acetate and framed. The frame measures 16" x 18.5" under Plexiglas with a mat opening of 8.5" x 10.75". Frame sold as-is. Artwork condition is Fine.
