    Description

Sleeping Beauty Forbidden Castle Storyboard Original Art (Walt Disney, 1959). John Hench (1908 - 2004) was the one of the studio's first artists to address the styling of Sleeping Beauty, after he observed some tapestries at the Cloisters located at the Metropolitan Museum in New York City. Then Marc Davis (1913 - 2000) went to visit Kay Nielsen (1886 - 1957) during a vacation to Europe and found him needing work. He came to the US and did several months of early preliminary styling and story work on the film. This is a stunning graphite and charcoal storyboard of Maleficent's Forbidden Castle high on the mountain. If you look close, you will see the three fairies on a ledge looking up at it. This amazing piece of concept art is in a mat of 17" x 11" with a mat opening of 12.5" x 7". Paper has pinholes in corners, minor handling, edge wear and tear, overall Good condition. The detail on this piece is amazing!
