Sing Along with Mitch/Ballantine Beer TV Commercial Production Cel Setup with Key Master Background (Playhouse Pictures, 1961). This is a historic hand-inked, hand-painted 5-cel setup on its Key Master hand-painted production background featuring early 1960s CBS-TV star, conductor Mitch Miller. The Mitch Miller cartoon character was created for a series of television commercials for Ballantine Beer. It was conceived by William Esty Advertising in New York, and shown during the Sing Along With Mitch TV program. It was animated by Playhouse Pictures, designed by Bernard Gruver, and directed by Frank Smith. The backgrounds and color were done by Dean Spille. It was animated by Rudy Zamora, Herman Cohen, and Frank Smith. Mitch is seen standing in front, with an image size of 7". He also can be seen on the bar TV. The Ballantine Beer logo is on the bar's back wall. This is a WOW piece, and a showcase for the work done by Playhouse Pictures. Minor handling. Very Good condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
