Carl Barks "I Wonder What My Fortune Cookie Says" Limited Edition Signed Serigraph #214/295 (Carl Barks Studio, 1997). We can't tell you what Uncle Scrooge's fortune cookie reads but for fans and collectors of Carl Barks and his Disney Duck images are in real luck. This very hard-to-find piece, sold out for over 25 years, was an exclusive serigraph print offered at the 1997 Disneyana Convention, held at the Walt Disney World theme park in Florida. Serigraphs, aka silk-screened prints, require each color to be hand-pulled, where for lithograph prints each color is added by a printing press. For "I Wonder What My Fortune Cookie Says," the silk-screening process required 53 colors on 320 gram acid-free 100% rag paper, with each color hand-pulled and allowed one day to properly dry. The result is the kind of rich color you see in this sumptuous print. In it, Uncle Scrooge McDuck is visited in his Money Vault by fortune teller "Hang Yu," who reveals herself to be Magica De Spell, still after Scrooge's treasured Number One Dime. The image size is 20" x 16", hand-signed by Carl Barks (1901 - 2000) in the lower margin. The print is matted with an opening of 21" x 18.25" and framed with glass for an overall size of 30.5" x 27.75". The Disneyana Certificate of Authenticity hand-signed by Mr. Barks plus a letter from the Carl Barks Studio is attached to the back of the frame. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. The serigraph is in Fine condition with very light handling.
