September in the Rain Aunt Emma Production Cel and Animation Drawing (Warner Brothers, 1937). This early Warner Brothers cartoon had grocery store products coming to life in in elaborate musical number. This short was directed by a young Friz Freleng and released on 12/18/37. Due to some politically insensitive racial stereotypes, this short is rarely seen, although not one of the Warner Brothers notorious "Censored 11" cartoons. This lot has a rare full 12 field nitrate hand-inked, hand-painted production cel of Aunt Emma. She is dancing to the music of Fats Waller and Louis Armstrong who are playing "Nagasaki". The cel has number 97 in bottom right corner, with a great image size of 7". Also included is a great 12 field animation drawing of Aunt Emma, in a dance mode as well. It's in graphite with detailed colored pencil highlights, and a 7" image size. Rare to have a full cel and full animation sheet of a character in a Warner Brothers short from this era. Minor handling and edge wear, slight tape on border of cel. In Very Good condition.
