An out-of-this-world offering, this rare 8.5'' x 11'' first-generation script from The Simpsons, Season 5 episode "Deep Space Homer," is signed by American hero Buzz Aldrin. This early draft represents the initial complete version of the episode, created prior to revisions or production changes, and provides a fascinating glimpse into the development of one of the series' most memorable and imaginative episodes. In "Deep Space Homer," NASA seeks to boost declining public interest in space travel by sending an average American into orbit-ultimately selecting Homer Simpson. The result is a brilliantly comedic take on the space program, blending satire with heartfelt homage to American exploration. Buzz Aldrin (Edwin E. Aldrin Jr.), the second man to walk on the Moon during the historic Apollo 11 mission, appears in the episode as himself. His cameo humorously acknowledges his legendary status while reinforcing the episode's connection to real-world space history. Created by Matt Groening, The Simpsons debuted in 1989 and became the longest-running primetime scripted series in television history.
