DescriptionScrappy's Band Concert Layout Drawing Signed by John C. Walworth (Mintz Studios, 1937). Scrappy leads the band just before it is overwhelmed by insects in this original Mintz Studio layout concept drawing by veteran animator John C. Walworth (1914 - 1992). He was an in-betweener and assistant animator at Mintz/Columbia in 1936-37 and Fleischer Studios animator from the 1937-47. He received screen credit on a number of the Noveltoons produced after Paramount assumed control of Fleischer and changed the name to Famous Studios. Mr. Walworth later went on to design many of the toy surprises found in boxes of Cracker Jack candy. This is an original drawing in red pencil that is signed by the artist and dated 1937. The drawing of Scrappy's band fills the page which has been glued to a sheet of 12 field 3-peghole animation paper. The glue has bled through, leaving a brown stain around the border. Artwork from Mintz Studio and Scrappy in particular is extremely rare. Staining and handling; Otherwise condition is Good.
