Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! Concept Drawing and Painting (Hanna-Barbera, 1969). One of the single most successful television cartoon franchises started on 9/13/69, on CBS. It has continued in one form or another with new cartoons to this day, almost 50 years later. One of the architects of this show was layout artist Mr. Alvaro Arce. He worked on the layouts for this show in Season 1 and went onto work on New Scooby-Doo Movies as well as Scooby's All-Star Laff-a-Lympics. This is a rare piece of Scooby-Doo and H-B history: a 1967 development/concept artwork from the hand of Mr. Arce. It is his layout drawing of Scooby-Doo and Shaggy in a haunted house with ghost, and the concept gouache/watercolor painting on board created from his layout. Back of this artwork is labeled, "Scooby Doo -- Shaggy Inspirational Sketch TV Series 1967." Artwork from the early days of this first season are rare. The pencil layout is on paper measuring 9" x 13", in graphite with green and brown pencil highlights. The painting is on light textured board measuring 11" x 15". Both pieces of early concept art are hand-signed by the artist. Characters are 5" and 6". Minor handling/edge wear and tear. Very Good condition. From the Alvaro Arce Collection.
