Rocky and Bullwinkle Jay Ward Signed Scene Cel and Photo (Jay Ward, 1971/85). The Dudley Do-Right Emporium (1971 - 2005) was located on Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood, next to Jay Ward Productions. In it was sold a host of items for the Jay Ward/Bullwinkle fan, including hand-painted scene cels. Virtually all the cels used in the making of Jay Ward's cartoons were painted in Mexico and ultimately destroyed. As a result the Emporium produced scene cels made specifically for sale as art. In the days when Jay Ward (1920 - 1989) happened to be in the store, he would sign them, making cels with his signature particularly desirable to collectors. This is a hand-inked, hand-painted scene cel of Rocky, Bullwinkle, Boris, and Natasha in its original "Jay Ward Productions" mat. What makes this one so special is that it is signed "To June (Foray)! With Love, Jay Ward." This is June Foray's (1917 - 2017) personal scene cel given to her from employer and friend Jay Ward. It is framed with a mat opening of 7" x 9", in an overall glass-front frame measuring 13" x 16". Also in this lot is an 8" x 10" photo of June, Bill Scott (the voice of Bullwinkle), and Jay Ward from 1985 that appears on page 97 of her book Did You Grow Up With Me Too? - The Autobiography of June Foray. Condition of both is Very Good. From the June Foray Collection.
