Rock-a-DoodleGrand Duke Production Cel (Sullivan/Bluth Studios, 1991). The film tells the story of a "Elvis-like" rooster named Chanticleer, who lives on a farm and crows every morning to raise the sun. One day he leaves the farm under less than ideal circumstances, to become a rock star in the big city. Offered in this lot is an original production cel of the villain of this tale and nemesis of Chanticleer, the Grand Duke. Plans for an animated version of the Chanticleer tale date as far back as the early years of the Walt Disney Studios, when Marc Davis, one of "Walt's Nine Old Men" completed a series of concept pieces to pitch to the idea to Walt. The image of this magical and malevolent owl measures 9" x 8" on a 16 field production cel which is over a print of the matching background for presentation purposes. There are a series of scene and sequence numbers handwritten along the bottom of the cel. Condition is Very Good.
