    Description

Robin Hood Production Cels Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1973).
Around the time of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Walt Disney had became interested in adapting the twelfth-century legend of Reynard the Fox which Robin Hood is based on. In the early 1970s, as production went further along, Ken Anderson wanted the Sheriff of Nottingham to be animated as a goat in an artistic experiment to try different animals as villains. He was overruled by the film's director and producer, Wolfgang Reitherman who wanted to keep to the villainous stereotype of a wolf instead. From Robin Hood we have two production cels; one featuring the Sheriff of Nottingham and the other of Little John. The cels were hand-painted on 16 field acetate and were laminated by the Walt Disney Studios. The pieces are both stamped "A Walt Disney Studios Original." Both pieces are in mats of 20" x 16". The cels have lamination failure. The lot includes the Certificate of Authenticity issued by Walt Disney Productions. Other than the lamination failure; the artwork is in Fair to Good condition.
