Robin Hood Hand-Painted Production Cels (Walt Disney, 1973).
The idea to adapt Robin Hood, the story of two outlaws living in Sherwood Forest, into an animated feature film dates back to Walt Disneys interest in the tale during production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. From this 1973 feature film we have two production cels. The first cel features Little John disguised as a fortune teller in order to relieve Prince John of his ill-gotten riches. The second piece has Maid Marian and Robin Hood in disguise. The second piece has a staple in the upper left, away from the image and under the mat. Both 16 field production cels have been laminated by the Walt Disney Studios and have lamination failure. The cels are in mats measuring 21" x 18" and 20" x 16". Mats are sold as-is. Included in this lot are the certificates of authenticity issued by Walt Disney Productions. Other than the lamination failure and staple; both pieces are in Fair to Good condition.
