Description

Retta Scott On the Trail Concept Art Group of 51 (Walt Disney, c. 1940s). Retta Scott came back to the Disney Studio after a brief layoff in 1943 and was put in the Story Department. This is a series of 52 paintings and sketches from this never-made film. They all were housed in Retta Scott's personal binder. This project was highlighted in Charles Solomon's book The Disney That Never Was (Hyperion 1995). The story featured a Native American Indian boy and his burro who explore the land outside their pueblo in the Grand Canyon region. Retta Scott traveled to the American Southwest to paint the colors and light of the desert in great detail. This is the largest collection of her work from this abandoned project ever brought to market. It includes every single character that was to be in this film. This is one enormous collection of paintings and sketches. Retta's original portfolio binder is included. Minor handling. Very Good condition. From the Retta Scott Archives.
