Ralph Kent - Mickey Mouse Illustration (undated). Ralph Kent was known as the "Keeper of the Mouse". He was tasked with being one of Mickey Mouse's handlers, training new artists to draw the mouse uniformly, and he helped to determine which merchandise would carry Mickey's image. Ralph Kent passed away in 2007.
This fantastic graphite illustration features Mickey in his most famous role as the Sorcerer's Apprentice. The mouse stands 9" tall. It was created on 14 field 3-peghole animation paper and given to Jim Ivey with a signed, personalized note. Jim Ivey opened the Cartoon Museum in 1967 as a gallery and haven for cartooning fans and collectors. He also started Orlandocon in 1974. So this piece is the connection between two giants of cartooning history. The paper is tanned, with much handling and edge wear, and some wrinkles. Overall in Good condition. From the Allan Holtz Collection.
