Description
Rabbit Hood Bugs Bunny Production Cel (Warner Brothers, 1949). "In the name of my most Royal Majesty, I knight thee: Arise, Sir Loin of Beef! Arise! Earl of Cloves. Arise! Duke of Brittingham. Arise! Baron of Munchausen. Arise! Essence of Myrrh, Milk of Magnesia, Quarter of Ten." This brilliant Chuck Jones-directed short pitted a carrot poaching Bugs Bunny against the Sheriff of Nottingham and closed with live-action footage of Errol Flynn as Robin Hood. Flynn received a personal copy of this film in exchange for the right to use his image. This was the very last Warner Brothers cartoon produced under Leon Schlesinger. In this lot is one of the rarest and instantly recognizable images of Bugs Bunny from one of his funniest Chuck Jones-directed theatrical shorts. The perfectly centered full-figure image of Bugs dressed as the King measures 2.5" x 5.5" on a 12 field cel. The pose and expression are priceless and few Bugs fans can resist the urge to recite the string of knighthood puns that follow this scene at the 6:08 mark. It's a remarkably rare cel with a fabulous pose and the opportunity to own it will likely not "arise" again for a very long time. It is in a 17.5" x 16" frame under Plexiglass with a mat window of 10" x 8". Condition is Fine and frame is sold as-is.Auction Info
