Fantastic Planet Om Man 23.5" Key Master Pan Setup (Les Films Armorial/Studio Jiri Trnka, 1973). An Om man flees from a monstrous winged creature in this spectacular Key Master production setup from the lauded animated sci-fi film Fantastic Planet. Directed by René Laloux (1925 - 2004), this animated cult-classic was awarded the Grand Prix special jury prize at the 1973 Cannes Film Festival. Fantastic Planet (originally released as Planet Sauvage) is notable for its unique animation techniques, employing character cutout puppets in lieu of traditional animation cels. This piece is composed of a hand-inked, hand-painted, and hand-trimmed character animation puppet mounted on the original Key Master pan production background. It is rendered in ink and watercolor on a massive 23.5" x 10.5" board. The art is attributed to the film's co-writer, production designer, and noted surrealist Roland Topor (1938 - 1997). This pivotal scene appears at the 42:16 mark of the film. This is a rare opportunity to own this original one-of-a-kind Key Master setup from the lauded Fantastic Planet. This setup is numbered 583, and it shows minor handling and edge wear with some tape debris/scuffing near edges, trimming, and a small tear on the left side. The condition is Very Good.Auction Info
