Description
Shazzan Licensing/Publicity Cel plus Print Image and Card (Hanna-Barbera, c.1967/1994). Here's a great original hand-painted licensing cel from one of Hanna-Barbera's nearly forgotten 1960s shows. Comic art legend Alex Toth created this Saturday morning animated series about a teenage brother and sister (Chuck and Nancy) who while exploring a cave find an old chest with two odd rings with matching broken halves inside; when they put the two rings together, they are transported to the Arabian Nights land where they meet a jolly giant of a genie, Shazzan and his winged camel Kaboobie. The series was short-lived, with only a single season of 18 episodes, so any art from the show is hard to find. This enormous image of Shazzan measures approximately 11.25" x 14.5" on a 13.5" x 15" cel that also includes Chuck, Nancy, and Kaboobie; we've seen this image as a promo with the show's title (a color print of this is included) and on a 1994 trading card (also included). The blue sky with pink clouds background is a print that matches the promo print we've included. The cel is placed on a 15" x 20" backing board and is in Very Good to Fine condition with light handling wear.Auction Info
