Description

Captain America Publicity Cel (Marvel). "When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world - 'No, you move." Featured here in this exquisite lot is the leader of the Avengers, Captain America, as he stands proudly at 8" x 9" in this hand-painted publicity cel that was made for press and consumer products. The patriotic superhero, Captain America, was created by comic book writer Joe Simon (1913 - 2011) and comic book artist Jack Kirby (1917 - 1994) making his first appearance in the series Captain America Comics #1 in 1940 by Timely Comics, which would eventually evolve into what is known now as Marvel Comics. This cel image is very reminiscent of the comics covers from issues #100 and #109 of the first solo-titled Captain America series, which are iconic covers done by the legendary duo, Jack Kirby (1917 - 1994) and Stan Lee (1922 - 2018). This is the perfect time to add this remarkable piece to your collection as Chris Evans, who portrays Captain America/Steve Rogers, will return for Marvel's new film Avengers: Doomsday where Robert Downey Jr. will also return as the supervillain Doctor Doom to face-off against the Avengers, X-Men, and the Fantastic Four! The overall condition is Very Good with minimal debris, and minor handling wear and edge wear.
