    Description

Woody Woodpecker Early Storyboard Drawing (Walter Lantz, c. 1940s). "Guess who?" Woody's earliest appearance was in the 11/25/40 Andy Panda short, Knock Knock. In it, he had thick, stubby legs, a look he kept until his redesign in 1944's The Barber of Seville. Here's an original storyboard drawing of Woody with his earliest look as designed by Alex Lovy, including his long sharp beak (in fact, this design is slightly different from the way Woody appeared, as there is no white "collar" around his neck). In the art, Woody is "swimming" through the air, doing a backstroke. The storyboard is in graphite and color pencils on paper measuring 7" x 6", floated in a mat and framed with Plexiglas for an overall size of 18" x 16.5". This is one of the earliest pieces of Woody Woodpecker art we have come across! Very Good condition.
