    Description

Wimmin is a Myskery Popeye Cartoon Storyboard Title Art (Max Fleischer, 1940).
This Dave Fleischer-directed cartoon about Popeye's marriage to Olive Oyl was the first appearance of the four "mini-Popeyes" as the couple's sons in a dream sequence; in later shorts, they would be known as Popeye's nephews Pipeye, Peepeye, Poopeye, and Pupeye. Here's the first storyboard drawing from the short, showing the cartoon's working title of "Popeye's Kids," with credits to writers Tack Knight and Ted Pierce. Art is in graphite and color pencils on paper measuring approximately 7" x 5.5", with an image area of 6" x 4.5". Tack holes and handling wear. Good condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
