Wile E. Coyote Sketch Original Art by Chuck Jones (Warner Brothers, c. 1960-70s). A fantastic Wile E. Coyote sketch by Chuck Jones (1912 - 2002). Wile E. debuted with his adversary, the Road Runner, in the 1949 short "Fast and Furry-ous". Wile E. appears separately as an adversary of Bugs Bunny in five cartoons from 1952 to 1963. To date, 48 cartoons have been made featuring the coyote, most of which were directed by Chuck Jones. In each cartoon, Wile E. uses absurdly complex gadgets from mail-order company, ACME to try and catch the Road Runner, but fails every time. In this lot is a terrific animation sketch signed by three-time Academy Award winner, Chuck Jones, along with his handwritten dialogue, "No - No Keep away from my desk..." In 1933 Jones joined Leon Schlesinger Productions, the independent studio that produced cartoons for Warner Brothers as an assistant animator. In 1935, he was promoted to animator and assigned to work with Tex Avery in a small adjacent building they dubbed "Termite Terrace". Jones, would team-up with Ward Kimball at Disney for four-months of uncredited work on Sleeping Beauty during a brief period in 1950s when Warner closed the animation studio. The Wile E. Coyote sketch in this lot was rendered in graphite on illustration paper. The artwork is housed in a glass-fronted frame of 14.5" x 14" with an aperture of 10" x 9.5". Frame sold as-is. Wile E. Coyote stands about 9.5" tall in this fantastic piece. Mild age-related toning. Condition is Very Good.
