Why Man Creates Academy Award-Winning Storyboard Group (Pantomime Pictures, 1968). This group comes from the animated/film documentary, written by Saul Bass and Mayo Simon, and directed by Saul Bass, that won the 1968 Best Documentary (Short Subject) Academy Award. Parts of this film ran on the first 60 Minutes episode on September 24, 1968. The short also appeared on a computer screen in the opening sequence of the movie X2: X Men United, and in 2002 it was voted into the United States National Film Registry, by the Library of Congress. The animation in the film was done by Art Goodman and Fred Crippen at Pantomime Pictures. This lot includes the 6-foot print of the entire film's animated sequence showing the history of man. It has pinholes in the corners and slight handling wear. There are also 5 storyboard prints mounted on black board (E 21, 22, 24, 25, and 31) from the opening animated sequence. The original drawings to these prints were done by Fred Crippen. Mr. Crippen has signed the top of the six foot print. Rare artwork from this important film! In Good condition. From the Fred Crippen Collection.
