Description

What's Opera, Doc? Elmer Fudd Animation Drawings by Chuck Jones Group of 4 (Warner Brothers, 1957). "Stwike the wabbit!" Elmer Fudd shouts, calling a variety of storms down to destroy Bugs Bunny. These charming 14'' animation drawings come from the acclaimed short "What's Opera, Doc?". This was an opera version of Elmer's hunt for Bugs Bunny based on Richard Wagner's Siegfried (1896 - 1930) Siegfried. Elmer takes on the role of the hero while Bugs becomes the lovely Brunnhilde. The drawings can be found at roughly 6:00, 5:36, 5:52, and 5:53. All feature Elmer calling down storms to attack Bugs and vary in size from 1'' x 1.25'' to 2.25'' x 4.5''. They are attributed to the director of the short, Chuck Jones (1912 - 2002). Jones described it as the team's attempt to "squish the entire Ring Cycle to six minutes". Though some of the drawings are diminutive in size, they are packed with a personality and charm that only Chuck Jones can create. Light age-related toning with minor handling wear. A couple of faint smudges, light stains, and stray marks. Very Good condition overall.
