Walt Disney's Treasure Chest "The Brave Little Tailor" Mickey Mouse Storybook Page Illustrations Group of 3 (Walt Disney/Simon & Schuster, 1948). One of Mickey Mouse's choicest roles was as the Brave Little Tailor who was mistaken for a "giant killer" after being overheard saying "I killed seven with one blow" (flies, that is). Here is the original artwork to three illustrations from the Treasure Chest book, including the story title, a clever drawing of Mickey with his flyswatters as seven houseflies approach. The image area measures approximately 7.5" x 4.5", including the oversized "O" that starts the story. Art is on paper affixed to illustration board measuring 15" x 7". A second 15" x 6" board includes two separate illustrations mounted to it, both featuring Gustav the Giant. In the first, Gustav's enormous foot is about to come down on a fleeing Mickey, with an image size of 3.75" x 3.25". In the other illustration, Gustav has grabbed a bunch of pumpkins, and we see his huge hand, with Mickey squirming out between the giant's fingers; image size is 4" x 3.5". The art on all three is in ink and Conté crayon, with whiteout and pasted-on type on the title drawing. Also included is an original production photostat with an image of Gustav angerly speaking to Mickey, who is in the palm of the giant's hand; image size is 3.5" x 3.5", and the photo paper measures about 6" x 7". Printouts of the storybook's cover (by Mary Blair) and contents page are also included. Art condition is Good with handling wear, toning, and minor stains.
