Description
Walt Disney's Storytime Book Pinocchio "Puppet Show" Cover by Campbell Grant Original Art with Production Art Group of 2 (Walt Disney/Simon & Shuster, 1958). In this original children's storybook cover illustration, the one-time puppet star with Stromboli is now the puppeteer, as Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket put on a show for Bambi and Thumper, plus a rare appearance by Bongo the Circus Bear! The book retells the stories of Pinocchio, Bambi, and Bongo, with illustrations by Campbell Grant (1909 - 1992). In the twelve years Mr. Grant spent at the Disney Studios, he worked on such films as Fantasia (the "Night on Bald Mountain" sequence), The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, and Pinocchio. He would go on to illustrate many Disney children's books after leaving the studio. This particular book was also illustrated by Disney comic strip/comic book artist Bob Grant. The cover art is painted in gouache on 10.75" x 13.25" heavy illustration board, with an approximate image area of 7" x 8.5". The printer's mechanical art, with a photo print of the cover art with added pasted-on text and handwritten notes, is included. Art condition is Good to Very Good, with a small stain to the left of Pinocchio's head and minor handling wear.Auction Info
