Description

Walt Disney's Donald Duck Comic Strip Original Art Dated 5-2-69 Signed by Carl Barks (Walt Disney/King Features Syndicate, 1969). In 2000, Walt Disney Art Classics did one of the final signings with Carl Barks. He signed a series of pen-and-ink published comic strips, both Sundays and dailies, that featured his character Scrooge McDuck. Here is one of these pieces of original comic strip art, created by a Disney comic artist and then signed by Carl Barks. The mat reads "Inspired by the Father of Scrooge McDuck -- Carl Barks." His Yukon gold find and money bin are both printed on the mat. This rare series of original strip art sold out almost immediately in March of 2000. Here is a great Scrooge and Donald Duck four-panel daily strip, and boldly signed by Carl Barks (1901 - 2000). It's likely that the strip was drawn by Frank Grundeen, who drew Donald Duck daily strips from 1967 to 1976. The art is created with blue pencil, black ink, and zipatone on board measuring 21" x 6.5". The Disney Letter of Authenticity highlighting the story of this signing is on the back of the frame. Framed with Plexiglas, for an overall size of 31.25" x 16.5", with a mat opening of 23" x 8.25". The art is in Very Good condition, with some handling and wear, including minor smudging, slightly uneven trimming on the edges, and yellowing of the zipatone. The frame is sold as-is.
