    Description

Virgil Ross - Witch Hazel Drawing Original Art (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s) Witch Hazel never looked so devilishly charming as she does in these images taken from the 1956 Warner Brothers short Broom-Stick Bunny. Legendary Warner Brothers animator Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996) has captured the many moods of this June Forey-voiced character, including her transformation into a red-headed beauty at the end of the film. Virgil Ross was known for his action and dance sequences, as well as his ability to draw funny facial expressions. Several of the cartoons he worked on were nominated for Academy Awards, and Mr. Ross himself was given the prestigious Winsor McCay Award in 1988. He spent time at several other studios, most notably Hanna-Barbera and Filmation. Mr. Ross began releasing hand-painted Limited Edition cels of his famous Looney Tunes scenes as part of the "Master's Collection" cels sold at Warner Bros. Studio Stores and animation galleries. This signed artwork is on 16 field 5-peghole animation paper and the seven images, constructed with graphite and blue pencil underdrawing, measure 2.5" to 6". There is minor edgewear, otherwise condition is Fine.
