    Description

Virgil Ross - Tweety and Sylvester Illustration (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). Tweety is about to "run out of piddies" in this great drawing from longtime Warner Brothers animator, Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996). The list of animated shorts and features that Mr. Ross worked on during his long and illustrious career could fill a book; in a nutshell, he worked with Walter Lantz, Tex Avery, Robert Clampett, and most especially, Friz Freleng. In addition to his Warner Brothers cartoons, his animation can be seen in The Little Mermaid, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo, The Smurfs, Flash Gordon, various Pink Panther cartoons, Star Trek, The Fantastic Four, The New Adventures of Batman, and many others. This piece, very similar to one of Mr. Ross' sold-out Master Series limited edition cels, was drawn by Mr. Ross on a sheet of 12 field animation paper, with a combined image size measuring over 9". Fine condition. Signed in the lower right.
