Description

Virgil Ross - The Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote Illustration (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). Wile E. Coyote tries to subdue his prey with hypnotism (no doubt learned from an Acme book), in this drawing inspired by the Chuck Jones-directed 1953 short, Zipping Along. Animator Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996) spent many years at Warner Brothers, working primarily in the Friz Freleng (1906 - 1995) unit before moving on to Hanna-Barbera, Filmation, and Ralph Bakshi. His series of limited edition "Masters Collection" cels were big sellers at Warner Bros. stores and animation galleries. He created this original one-of-a-kind piece in graphite over blue pencil on 12 field 3-peghole animation paper and signed it in the lower left. The characters measure 6.5" and 8.5" respectively. The piece shows minor handling; otherwise condition is Fine.
