    Description

    Virgil Ross - The Grinch Illustration (MGM, c. 1990s). Splendid drawing of the Dr. Seuss character by legendary animator Virgil Ross. Mr. Ross (1907 - 1996) began his animation career in the 1920s, eventually working alongside Ub Iwerks and Tex Avery. He was co-creator (with Avery) of Bugs Bunny, animating A Wild Hare in 1940. He worked with Bob Clampett, Chuck Jones, and Friz Freleng, and was awarded the prestigious Winsor McCay award in 1988. This drawing of "the Mean One" was created by Mr. Ross in blue pencil and graphite on a sheet of 12 field animation paper, with an image size of 10.5". Signed in the lower right. Fine condition.
