    Virgil Ross - Sylvester and Sylvester Jr. Illustration (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). Sylvester is aghast at the ease with which Junior nabs a mouse in this one-of-a-kind drawing by Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996). Mr. Ross was a long-time animator for Warner Brothers, going back to the 1930s. He worked with directors Tex Avery (1908 - 1980), Bob Clampett (1913 - 1984), and Friz Freleng (1906 - 1995), before moving on to Hanna-Barbera and Filmation in the '60s and '70s. Mr. Ross received the coveted Winsor McCay Award in 1988. He drew this piece in graphite over blue pencil on a sheet of 12 field 3-peghole animation paper, with an overall image size of 6" x 7.5". Fine condition. Signed in the lower right. The paper shows minor handling and condition is Fine.
